Anyone aware of a amphib float stc for a tri gear? Have not called any float companies yet. Thanks

JamesCaird

I think the EDO 3500's  are on the list.  The float attach points are the same tailwheel or tri gear.  Cheers/ JC

Denis

I didn't think the made tri-gears had the float kits installed or could be put on floats.

Jason Stephens

I think you may be correct Andrew.  The TDC for the HT-295(1700 series) seems to list only landplane CG ranges whereas the 391/395/250/295 all list CG ranges for landplane and floatplane.  The Helio Courier book by J. Rowe also mentions that some of the tubing in the cage is different from the 395/295 so that could be an additional issue.

Is the plane in question a 1700 series or a U-10 converted to tri-gear?

I have Helio #1709, a factory Tri-gear.  It has the float strut attach points.   The cage tubing is different from the non-tri-gear Helios in that there is a "bulge" in the bottom where the main gear leg box structrures were added.  The rear float attach point is to the rear of the gear boxes.

Jason Stephens

Ah!  That is good to know.  Thanks for clarifying that James!
