Colleagues, tell me how you roll up and roll out the Helio plane into the hangar?
I want to buy this tug: https://airtug.com/product/model-6-s-aircraft-tug/
Do you think it is possible for her to ride Helio?
In the instructions for Helio it is written: that I need to tow it by the main wheels?

Rais

Here is what is written in the manual about towing Helio:

2-8. TOWING.

2-4. The aft fuselage is provided with two flush re-
tracting litt handles to facilitate hand lifting and hoist- ing of the att fuselage. The aircraft may be towed with a rope or cable (see Figure 2-3) attached to the inboard side of each main landing gear wheel axle. The tow rope will be of sufficient length to permit the towing vehicle to clear the nose by not less than fifteen feet.
This extra length is considered necessary to prevent aircraft from overrunning the towing vehicle. When the aircraft is being toweda qualified person will be
in the cockpit to maintain control of the aircraft with the brakes. Tow the aircraft at a slow speed. Sudden starts and stops will be avoided, especially over snow or ice and rough, soggy, or muddy terrain. Avoid short turns and allow the inside wheel to rotate (not pivot) while the aircraft is in a turn.
CAUTION
Do not push, pull, or lift the aircraft by any of the flight control surfaces. Avoid damage to propeller, fairing, and other parts of the aircraft. Do not tow the aircraft with the control surfaces locked.

Can Helio be towed by the tail wheel?

ONIONFARMER

I use a Best Tug. On concrete it works great with a little pressure on the handles. On firm grass it works with excessive pressure on the handles. Mine does have pneumatic knobby tires.

Which model Best Tug are you using? Are you towing by the rear wheel?!

I'm sorry for the mistakes, my English is very bad.

I use Ac Air Technology. https://acairtechnology.com/. The second bigger from smallest. Can be used with other aircraft without wheel fairings. I have a video but this site said it was too large to upload here. You can walk around and watch wingtips and tail while moving it. Send me your email address if you would like to see it.  Paul

Paul thank you very much for your answer.
You are using a tug like this:https://acairtechnology.com/products/ac-tracktech-t1v2
Please send video to fotomoto0@gmail.com
Thanks, Rais

Best Tug A3.  Not cheap but neither is my back. Attach to tailwheel from a standing position. A little down pressure on handlebars to keep tires from spinning. Battery operated. Simple.

Yes Rais,
T1V2 model. Met the owner/inventor at Oshkosh. Very nice guy. I sent you a video. I used it in the snow a few days ago. It took me 3 tries to get locked under the tail wheel when slippery but once the weight of the plane was on it, it did just fine. You can stud the tracks but they won't do it from the factory because of stupid people tearing up epoxy floors with them. I was trying to find a battery drill powered tug to carry with the plane but no luck. I also looked at best tugs and they are very good but twice the price. This one is nice because you can walk around plane and watch it while operating. I think the V1 model would work for Helio but would be overworked. It is lighter so would be easy to carry with you.  Paul

Paul I received your video, thank you very much. This is very useful information for me. I used to not trust these tugs, but now I saw her in action. You have a beautiful plane, I'm sure it flies as well as it looks.)
I'm thinking of buying a more powerful version: https://acairtechnology.com/products/ac-tracktech-t1x2-adjustable-cradle
Since we have a very even apron and there is a threshold at the exit from the hangar!

I think you will be happy with it. And it works good for most other airplanes. They told me it works good for amphibs too under a front wheel. We are going to try it on one next summer. Paul

joshuaycrs

I use one of their robots for my 295. Works like a charm.

TreeTopFlyer

Come on Guys....Grab the handles Push it in and out...get some excercise..keep yourself young!  Don't use escalators or elevators either!!  LOL

paullapoint

When you have rods and screws holding your back together, these are great !
