Prospective purchase

Hi All,
My belated Christmas Present, H800, serial H-3, C-GDAU, was just purchased Jan 6, 2021. I am very anxious to bring it from Quebec to British Columbia, Canada in the Spring. It is on floats and I may keep it on floats, have plenty of great fishing lakes and rivers here.

If you need a lift from Montreal to Lac à la Tortue in the spring, feel welcome to ask for one. It will be my pleasure.
If you never flew a 800, we can even do some touch and go on the lake before you go. Nothing to learn really, besides putting some flaps when approaching 82.

Hello Louis,
My friend Keith Connors will be flying C-GDAU home to BC for me. Keith is a high time floatplane pilot, but has no Helio time. I will put him in touch with you and I believe he will want to meet you and get some instruction from you. I can not fly from BC to Montreal on the airlines because I am not vaccinated. Do you know what the fuel capacity of the 800 is ? Thank you. Hope I can meet you sometime.

There is 120 gallons. 60 inboard, 60 more if the transfer pump are working. Something to check before departure. Around 20 gallons per hour at some altitude. Flying westbound is sometime not good at altitude. So may be 21.5 the first 2 hours and a little less as the floatplane becomes lighten without a 45 gallons. I would stretch to 6 hours. But really not more. Around 114 K on floats
To check the transfer pump, put fuel to the very top. Activate the transfer pump, fuel will spill out from the main tanks in a minute.

I don't remember if DAU is equipped with an engine analyser to go Lean Of Peak. ( I don't want to revive an old war here !! ). If it is equipped, may be even with Gami, then we can go lean of peak at some altitude once we have already burned enough fuel so the plane is lighter. On floats, when near gross weight, Lean Of Peak does not leave us with enough power to have a good attitude. Once we are more light, you can. Around 18 gph maybe. This is how we achieve ( stretch) to the 6 hours limit. Planning with 5 hours legs is ok.
