Helio aerobatics ?
« on: July 24, 2021, 08:03:38 PM »
I 've seen part of this 'Air America video' before just not the end and was kind of annoyed because in all the portions of the video that you can see any identifying marks on the Helio it appears to be deliberately slightly out of focus.

Ok, is there anyone out there that can lay claim to actually doing a roll in a Helio, or
even going along for the ride?

Maybe the placard "No Aerobatics allowed" my Helio had or may still have was in error.

This 'no shit' video has pornographic proof that you can do a roll with no consequences and that the wings won't come off, maybe.

I wonder if Kevin at Soar would teach you how to do do a roll using  your own Helio, but I suspect you would get an earful if you were to even ask.

If this doesn't generate some comments I guess nothing will.

The video is pretty nuts.  I always wondered how the interceptors would work with rolls.  I guess the answer is not a factor.  I've been teaching and competing in glider aerobatic competitions(nationals & worlds) for over 20 years and I would never, ever do acro in a plane not designed specifically for aerobatics.  Especially one with multiple decades of use on its airframe.  Still neat to see a video of it though. :)
