Interestingly the Cargo door that folds to the rear was developed by the Factory for the 1700 series trigear Helios, probably because the under surface of the wing is so high that the utility/litter door that lifts out and up would be a problem. It was installed on all 1700s as standard equipment and was offered as optional equipment on other Helios sometime in '71 around c/n 1442.
Another thing is that with the utility door that lifts up and out, coming open in flight is a nonevent, it just floats up and it gets really windy, the door that opens to the rear is definetly an incident when it comes open in flight.

Would you know the logic behind converting the 4 tanks to 4 valves ( military ) to transfer pumps ? ( Civil ) What is the danger of the military configuration ? Transfering and loosing fuel when parked non level ? A lot of civil planes can do that. May be there is some regulation on the FAR that check for imbalance after parking ?

I believe the rational for using the transfer system was primarily for standardization. Flying multiple airplanes of the same type with multiple pilots it's generally safer to have them configured the same when possible. Plus, the 1200 series military U10D/H295's would have had the overhead valves, which we didn't like as much as the transfer fuel system. Jim Metzler

Found a picture of c/n 1235 as PK-UCB while located in Danau Bira Indonesia in'83, at Stevens Helio Facebook page. It was
posted by a Jaars member.
Note earlier paint scheme it should be #1 in the picture queue above.
Facebook makes it difficult if you aren't signed up they only allow you to see half the page they block the other half with a facebook application that you can't make go away.
I see that Facebook, Google and Twitter now have one third of the people in the world signed up. The head honchos of those 3 corporations now have more influence in the world than the prime ministers or presidents of most midsize or smaller countries, why do people worry about Russia influencing much of anything.
