Looking for Brake Master Cylinder
« on: June 03, 2012, 09:52:25 PM »
Does anyone know where I can find some parts for the master cylinders for the Helio 391B?  Primarily I am looking for the caps that thread into the cylinder barrel, and have an o-ring that seals around the stem.

In my helio parts manual dated 10-8-71 there is a note   "  Master cylinder same as those used in twin comanche. cleveland built"  this was hand written in as a note.    I have not researched this so if you find out info on it a posting of findings would be great. We are all in this together.

Thank you, 391STOL, for the info.  It looks like it is a Cleveland part.  I will keep you posted as I learn more.

If the master cylinder you have is about 1.5" in diameter, it isn't a Cleveland but a Goodyear. H391's didn't come with Cleveland; some may have been changed. I can see what JAARS has for the Goodyear cylinders next week. Do you have brakes on the copilot position or just pilot position? Jim Metzler

My 391B has master cylinders that are approx .75" in dia, and has both pilot and co-pilot braking. I was able to locate a Cleveland cylinder that had a different body and stem, but the cap, piston, spring, and associated parts were identical.  This has got me back in the air just in time for a steady 30 mph windy day with gusts to 40.  Always lots of fun in the Helio. Thanks for all the help.
