G0-435 Piston Rings
« on: March 02, 2020, 04:53:46 PM »
Hi all,

I'm looking for a steel ring set for my G0-435-C2 on my Helio. I need 2 of the compression rings (part #74984) and 2 of the oil ring (75985). If anyone has a line on a set or a chrome cylinder kit (cylinder, piston, pin and rings) please let me know ASAP. Or if you know of any alternative that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Wow! Nothing but crickets. I thought someone would have a line on some rings. I did get a personal reply from a Helio driver who used PartsBase to find some leads but none of them panned out. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

If you need further information I can look up correct part numbers for the pistons you are using referring to Lycoming Service Letters, if you need assistance no problem. Have a good one.

Tim,

You might already have this info, but SI 1558 gives new numbers for these rings.

74984   Ring-Piston Compression 14G28723
75985   Ring-Piston Oil   14H28724

Hope this helps.

Kevin

Hi Guys,
Thank you for the leads. I found an oil ring but have had zero luck finding the 2 compression rings. I'll certainly try J & J (above) but I'm not holding my breath. I've called all over the country and no one has these. There are some custom ring makers that can make them if I had the specs but I can't find the specs. Anybody want a cheap 1956 Helio H391b that just had an extensive annual and is good to go minus 2 compression rings on #5? (and yes, I'm serious...shoot me an offer).

Might have a lead on the compression rings. JAARS sold 61ea. of 74984 to Johnston Aircraft Service Inc, 559-686-1794, in 2017. Check with them as I can't imagine they used them all. Jim

Hi All,

Thanks for all the replies and help. Oil rings are plentiful. Unfortunately none of the above had any compression rings but I finally found a set at Lycon. Originally they said that they didn't have any.  They had a bunch of 435 cylinders and were waiting on some. They called us back 2 weeks later and had some. Not sure where they got them or if they had them made. The cost was $200 each (2 per cylinder). Presumably they now also have cylinders ready to go.

Best Regards,
