I am the new owner of 1434. Looks like I will be needing some parts. Paul

Congratulations,

Modified history above any corrections needed?

Your wife finally let you buy a project? eh... Now the fun starts.

At least with the site you have a information base to work from.

We will be expecting an occasional progress picture in a few months, or when you actually make some, progress.

Have you found a set of floats yet?

Yes, congratulations!     I was hoping C-FIPI was rebuildable.  Where are you going to bring it?   I think the floats are still in Newfoundland?  Cheers and best wishes/  Bob Wallace

Thanks guys. I will be bringing it home to KDRM unless someone out there wants to buy/sell/trade for a Helio that flies. I also have an airworthy 172 with recent overhaul that I would like to trade. The last I knew about the floats that were on this Helio is that they were for sale by the original owner in Ontario unless someone bought them already.  Paul

Can anyone tell me what the the parameters are to do a tear down inspection on an engine involved in an accident like this? Since it was out of fuel, there was no power and doesn't even look like it was windmilling. I haven't checked the runout yet, but even if it were excessive, could just the gearbox be checked without going through the whole engine? Thanks, Paul

Factory built or repaired?

Was this factory reinforcement or something that someone repaired?  The split tubes with clamps over them.  Thanks, Paul

The 3800 lb gross weight kit reinforced a number of tubes using split tubes and clamps. The diagonal tubes at the pilot/copilot legs are two of them. Jim

Here are a couple disassembly progress pictures from Paul and I opened the picture above.

Paul installed new LED lighting in his shop look at the difference.

Paul asked for tips on removing the rest of the skins above the cabin but I don't have any experience here.

Anyone else have any tips for him on disassembly from this point.
